Obama vs GOP On DEBT CEILING: ABC

The title of an ABC News article released on January 14, 2013 is “Boehner, GOP READY FOR FIGHT With Obama, (and) Dems Over DEBT LIMIT” (Web-site/URL: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/01/boehner-gop-ready-for-fight-with-obama-dems-over-debt-limit/#.UPTkqIjz4zg.twitter).

“House Speaker John Boehner OPENLY CHALLENGED President Obama to another battle over the country’s mounting deficit today (January 14 2013), answering Obama’s declaration that “America CANNOT AFFORD another debate” over the debt limit by saying that AmericansDO NOT support raising the debt ceiling without REDUCING GOVERNMENT SPENDING at the same time”Obama says “We CANNOT AFFORD…” while Boehner says we must “(reduce) GOVERNMENT SPENDING. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

“…in a statement released this afternoon (January 14, 2013), Boehner said: “The consequences of failing to increase the debt ceiling are real, but so too are the consequences of allowing our SPENDING PROBLEM to go unresolved”“spending problem” or REDUCING “spending” is A GOP OBSESSION.  “Without meaningful action, the debt will continue to act as an anchor on our economy, costing American jobs and endangering our children’s future”With REPUBLICANS still in control of THE HOUSE“spending problem(s)” and “the debt” will be brought up again and again, so this Congress will most likely be a DO NOTHING Congress yet again, given that the House must pass Senate bills in order for those bills to go to the President’s deskWell, it’s safe to say that the House WILL NOT pass many bills that the Senate passes because THE HOUSE is still dominated by THE GOP and we know that Democrats and the GOP DON’T get along and this is in addition to the fact that on many occasionsDemocrats and Republicans DON’T get along with MEMBERS OF THEIR OWN CAUCUS/PARTY and the House DOESN’T get along with the Senate.

“While Boehner has long maintained that any increase to the debt limit must be matched or (ideally) EXCEEDED BY SPENDING CUTS  and reforms, the president has INSISTED that “the financial well being of the American people IS NOT leverage to use”. Earlier today (January 14, 2013), the president warned that IF the GOP DRAGS OUT another fight over the looming need to INCREASE the debt limit, all sorts of bills won’t be paid on-time, leading to a “SELF-INFLICTED wound on the economy”. There are THREE things to note here. First once again“spending cuts” are A GOP OBSESSIONSecondly “drags out” is a fundamental characteristic of all POLITICIANSOn top of this“self-inflicted” is significant because there is a saying that if OTHERS harm uswe deserve sympathy but NOT if WE deliberately HARM OURSELVES.

“during a news conference in the East Room of the White House”, Obama said: “We might NOT be able to pay OUR TROOPS or honor our contracts with SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS”, two significant groups in society. “Investors around the world will ask IF the United States of America is, in fact, a safe betMarkets could GO HAYWIREInterest rates  would SPIKE for ANYBODY who borrows money”.

“in a statement”, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor wrote: “The American people DESERVE BETTER from Washington. We CANNOT deliver MEANINGFUL (?) change and necessary reforms if we refuse to address OUT-OF-CONTROL SPENDINGHERE WE GO AGAIN. “Under President Obama, we have seen RECORD-SETTING deficit spending and TRILLIONS added to our nation’s DEBT. This is LEADERSHIP FAILURE”. Cantor is acting like HE can do better, making this the latest case/example of a “Difficult Person” acting SUPERIOR (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI) as well as/in addition to “Blaming and Criticizing” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-AJviZ8Itk).

“But the president clearly has his own backers in Congress” obviously. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi BLAMED Republicans for the first downgrade of the country’s credit rating in 2011″. “Republicans MUST NOT threaten the full faith and credit of the United StatesAmerica ALWAYS pays its bills and Republicans SHOULD NOT use veterans, seniors, small businesses public safety or the stability of our HOUSING and STOCK markets as leverage”. This should remind us once again of DAKOTA MEYER because whenever we tell POLITICIANS or when POLITICIANS TELL ONE ANOTHER that they CAN’T or SHOULDN’T do something, THEY WILL/ARE GOING TO DO IT but of course this time the “When you say they can’t do something, they’re going to do it” IS NOT a good thing. “Republicans who are THREATENING to FORCE America to default on its debt for the first time in our history will DO GREAT DAMAGE TO OUR ECONOMY, to our MIDDLE CLASS and to our WORLD STANDINGAgain, Democrats are trying to paint this picture of them representing “our middle class” and the GOP OBSESSED with the interests of WALL STREETThis is also the latest/yet another example of “Blaming and criticizing” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-AJviZ8Itk).

“Democrats also pledged to play “a POSITIVE (?) role” in discussions to reach an AMICABLE (?) resolution in the weeks ahead”. Not much IF ANYTHING is “positive” or “amicable” these days.

Pelosi went on: “With the start of  (?) Congress, we have the opportunity for A FRESH START”. This “new Congress” has many of THE SAME characters as the last “Congress”. “We must SEEK COMMON GROUND and WORK TOGETHER (?), Democrats and Republicans, to create jobs, strengthen THE MIDDLE CLASS grow the economy, as we reduce our deficit in a BALANCED (?) way”. There certainly ISN’T much “common ground” among POLITICIANS on Capitol Hill these dayspeople AREN’T “working together” and again, “balanced” is open to INTERPRETATIONS (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). “While the American people EXPECT Democrats and Republicans to MEET IN GOOD FAITH (?) at the NEGOTIATING (?) table to achieve a BIG and BALANCED (?) solution to the challenge of DEFICIT REDUCTION, they will not tolerate ANY party PLAYING PARTISAN GAMES with a possible default and a further downgrading of our creditWe NEVER get EVERYTHING we “expect”This is exactly why EXPECTATIONS must be REASONABLE (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). AlsoPOLITICIANS on Capitol Hill certainly HAVE NOT “(met) in good faith at the NEGOTIATING table” for a long time now.  There certainly ISN’T/HASN’T BEEN much IF ANY “negotiating” going on between/amongst these folks recently and “balanced” once again is open to INTERPRETATIONS (Web-site/URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). On top of all this/as if all this wasn’t enoughthere are PLENTY OF “partisan games” being “played”.

“House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., added. “America MUST LIVE UP TO ITS OBLIGATIONS while seeking A MORE DISCIPLINED FISCAL FUTURE. It’s hard to do BOTH of these things AT THE SAME TIME  Also“a more disciplined fiscal approach” makes Hoyer sound like a REPUBLICAN.

According to a statement released by Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La), the chairman of the Republican Study Committee”, “President Obama seems to be THE ONLY person in Washington who THREATENS default on America’s debt obligationsThe President HAS AN OBLIGATION to PRESERVE the credit rating of the United States and HITTING the debt ceiling does not immediately trigger a default unless his administration FAILS to do its job and prioritize our debt payments”Do REPUBLICANS have “obligations” and priorities?” Also, notice “debt” and on top of all thisit seems as if Scalise is suggesting that Republicans HAVE NEVER “failed”Of courseNOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.

Finally, Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ga., finished off: “The president is wrong to think of a debt limit increase as A RUBBER STAMP”. NO POLITICIAN should have “a rubber stamp”This should be directed more towards LEUNG CHUN-YING and his predecessor DONALD TSANG in HONG KONG much more so than any Capitol Hill politician because Leung and especially Tsang before him used the CHINA said so argument as “a rubber stamp”In other words, because CHINA (instead of the Hong Kong people) picked Tsang and Leungthese two men were under the impression that CHINA had given them “a rubber stamp” to rule like tyrants. Tsang rushing to BEIJING and calling Democrats “horrid animals” is a perfect example of this (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_term_of_Donald_Tsang_as_Chief_Executive_of_Hong_Kong). That kind of language (calling people “horrid animals”) simply because they disagreed with him is UNACCEPTABLE and OUTSIDE the boundaries of how a civil servant should behave. “Those days are over, The debt limit is one of the LAST stop signs left in Washington and Congress should use it to FORCE the president to enact tax and SPENDING reform so that future generations do not bear the burden of this government’s IRRESPONSIBLE behavior”Obviously this will become the latest example of the “force and pain technique” being used (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).

To conclude let’s return once again to the title: “BoehnerGOP READY FOR FIGHT With Obama, (and) Dems Over DEBT LIMITThis will simply become THE LATEST “fight”.
