The title of a recently released Al-Jazeera article is “Venezuelans gear up for FRESH (?) election” (Web-site/URL: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/americas/2013/03/201331120410370487.html).
How “fresh” can these “elections” possibly be? “Acting president Maduro and opposition leader Capriles register for SNAP election prompted by Chavez’s death”. Will this “snap election” be FAIR?
Venezuelans have begun preparing for a snap election to choose a new leader after the death of Hugo Chavez.
“Thousands of the late president’s supporters thronged the National Election Council on Monday as acting president Nicolas Maduro, dressed in a jacket in the colours of the Venezuelan flag, officially registered his candidacy”. “I am NOT Chavez, but I am HIS SON and ALL OF US TOGETHER, THE PEOPLE, are Chavez”. This is the latest example of PROPAGANDA.
“Wearing red berets and T-shirts emblazoned with Chavez’s image, his supporters pledged loyalty to the deeply polarising socialist revolution that the former army paratrooper championed during his 14 years in power” or 3+ US presidential terms.
According to Jesus Oliviertt, a 60-year-old retiree, “We are going to elect Chavez IN THE BODY OF Maduro. WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE HIS WORK“. “in the body of” is the latest/yet another CIRCUS. Olivertt is acting like he wants Maduro to be AN EXTENSION OF Chavez. WE MUST HAVE OUR OWN IDEAS. STALE politicians are the ones who lose. This is exactly how OBAMA defeated MCCAIN back in the 2008 presidential election: Obama painted McCain as “GEORGE W BUSH‘s THIRD TERM” (Web-site/URL: http://www.windsofchange.net/archives/john_mccain_as_george_w_bushs_third_term_of_office.html). This is exactly how a candidate loses: being tied to an INCREDIBLY unpopular incumbent.
“Henrique Capriles, a 40-year-old state governor who lost to Chavez in presidential elections in October, kept his followers off the street but warned Maduro on Sunday: “I WON’T LEAVE YOU AN OPEN PATH” obviously. “You are going to have to defeat me with VOTES“.
“Cuba’s Fidel Castro, meanwhile, commented for the first time on the death of his close friend and ally, calling Chavez THE BEST FRIEND Cuba EVER HAD“. This is the latest CIRCUS. Castro of course is another TYRANT/DICTATOR. The only thing that stopped Castro from becoming like ASSAD, GADHAFI, MUBARAK, KIM JONG-IL, MAO ZEDONG, JIANG ZEMIN or DONALD TSANG or was cancer (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fidel_Castro#Stepping_down:_2006.E2.80.932008). Now, of course, the Cuban dictator is RAUL Castro.
“Capriles, meanwhile, has ACCUSED Maduro of lying about the president’s health to buy time to prepare for the elections”. “Now on top of it all, you are USING THE BODY OF THE PRESIDENT TO STAGE A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN“. Well, Capriles IS DOING THE SAME THING as an OPPOSITION figure.
“Minutes later, Maduro went on STATE-RUN television and, standing in front of a picture of Chavez in military uniform, accused his rival of trying to foment violence with “DISGUSTING” accusations”. Again we are reminded of how problematic STATE-run TV is because it’s essentially PROPAGANDA/THE GOVERNMENT’S MOUTHPIECE.
“His mask has fallen and we can see his NAUSEATING FASCIST face“…, warning that the Chavez family was reserving the right to take “all legal action to DEFEND THE HONOR OF (?) president Hugo Chavez”. Chavez has NO “honor”. How can a dictator possibly have “honor?”
“He is looking for the people of Venezuela to … go on the path of violence,..” urging Venezuelans to “not FALL INTO PROVOCATIONS (?)” Again WHO IS DOING THIS? This is the latest/yet another case of “We think they made us mad; they think we made them mad and here we go” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h7cmuRLwME).
So, in VENEZUELA, we have HUGO CHAVEZ‘s anointed successor, NICOLAS MADURO, competing against HENRIQUE CAPRILES. Does CAPRILES have a REALISTIC shot at winning? This reminds us of HONG KONG‘s 2007 Chief Executive election where ALAN LEONG entered to compete against CHINA‘s anointed successor to TUNG CHEE-HWA, even though Leong also had NO chance of winning (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Leong). Perhaps Capriles is only trying to demonstrate the fact that NOT everyone supports Chavez just like Leong demonstrated that NOT everyone in Hong Kong supports China unconditionally. Whether or not CAPRILES wins will determine whether these elections are “fresh” or not. Otherwise, we will just have AN EXTENSION OF CHAVEZ‘s RULE/DICTATORSHIP
