The title of a recently released Yahoo! article is “US pushes back against North Korean war rhetoric” (Web-site/URL: http://news.yahoo.com/us-pushes-back-against-north-korean-war-rhetoric-181600834.html).
“North Korea warned Seoul on Saturday (March 30, 2013) that the Korean Peninsula had entered “a state of war” and it threatened to shut down a border factory complex involving both countries”. Again, North Korea seems to be in “a state of war” with EVERYONE.
National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden released the following statement: “We’ve seen reports of a new and UNCONSTRUCTIVE statement from North Korea” AS EXPECTED (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). NO SURPRISE THERE. “We take these threats seriously and remain in close contact with our South Korean allies. But we would also note that North Korea has a long history of bellicose (aggressive) rhetoric and THREATS and today’s (March 30, 2013) announcement FOLLOWS THAT FAMILIAR PATTERN. As [Defense] Secretary [Chuck] Hagel said on Thursday (March 28, 2013), WE REMAIN FULLY CAPABLE OF DEFENDING AND PROTECTING the United States and our allies. We continue to take additional measures against the North Korean threat, including our plan to increase the U.S. ground-based interceptors and early warning and tracking radar and the signing of the (South Korea-US) COUNTER-provocation plan“. Does “We remain fully capable of defending and protecting” mean that the US IS WILLING to GO TO WAR WITH North Korea?
“Earlier, deputy White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters on Air Force One that Pyongyang was PURELY to blame for ESCALATING TENSIONS, Agence France-Presse reported”. “We are coordinating PRETTY closely with NOT JUST our allies, but also with Russia and China which also have a significant stake in resolving this situation peacefully“. Will this be CONSTRUCTIVE, given that Russia and China are the only two countries on Earth that support the tyrant BASHAR AL-ASSAD? Most likely NOT.
Finally, “North Korea said in a statement Saturday (April 30, 2013) that it would deal with South Korea according to “WARTIME regulations” and would RETALIATE against any provocations by the United States and South Korea without notice”. There are TWO things to note here. First, it seems like ANY activity by ANY “country” is a declaration of “war” on North Korea. On top of this, North Korea seems to be “retaliating” or SEEKING REVENGE AGAINST EVERYONE. “revenge”, of course is an “Ambassador of Doom” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-AJviZ8Itk).
This is just North Korea’s latest round of “rhetoric”.
