The title of a recently released Al-Jazeera article is “Top Pakistan Taliban leader ‘killed by drone'” (Web-site/URL: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia/2013/05/201352955158237275.html).
“Wali ur Rehman, who had a $5m bounty on his head, targeted by US drone in North Waziristan, officials say”.
“A US drone strike has killed the number TWO of the Pakistani Taliban, Wali ur Rehman, in the North Waziristan region, according to security officials in Pakistan”.
“Rehman, who had a $5m US government bounty on his head, reportedly died along with at least FIVE others when two missiles were fired on a house early on Wednesday.
“Officials in several towns, as well as tribal and intelligence sources, said Rehman was killed in the attack in Chashma village near Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan”.
“Two officials said their informants in the field saw Rehman’s body, while a third said intelligence authorities had intercepted communications between fighters saying Rehman had been killed”.
“A spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban, however, denied the reports”. “Ahsanullah Ahsan told the AP news agency”: “This appears to me to be FALSE news. I DON’T have any such information“.
Finally, according to White House spokesman Jay Carney, “We ARE NOT in a position to confirm the reports of Wali ur-Rehman’s death” again obviously because WE DON’T KNOW IF IT’S TRUE OR NOT. “IF those reports were true, or prove to be true, (then) it’s worth noting that his demise would deprive the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) of its second-in-command and chief military strategist“. Again, “if” IS NOT a guarantee. Also, “IF those reports (are)” NOT “true”, there will be SERIOUS problems/consequences, not just for the United States, but for THE REST OF THE CIVILIZED WORLD.
There are TWO possible outcomes here. If Rehman is not dead, he will still WREAK HAVOC and if he is dead, the Taliban will surely be SEEKING REVENGE which, again, of course, is an “Ambassador of Doom” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h7cmuRLwME). In other words, this may well turn out to be a LOSE-LOSE situation.
