HARRY REID & ANOTHER “Nuclear Option”: MSNBC

The title of a recently released MSNBC article is “Reid says he’s prepared to go ‘nuclear‘ on nominations” (Web-site/URL: http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/07/11/19416970-reid-says-hes-prepared-to-go-nuclear-on-nominations#.Ud-w3IrN3r8.twitter).

INCENSED by what they call unfair blocking of executive branch nominees, Senate Democratic leaders issued an ultimatum Thursday, with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid daring Republicans to keep up their objections and warning that he could change Senate rules to prohibit future nominee filibusters if necessary”. This is the latest case of POLITICIANS being “incensed” or ANGRYAs we know, POLITICIANS have INCREDIBLY short fuses.

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that he will move forward with procedural votes on seven Obama nominees, whom he says have been STONEWALLED by Republicans who simply dislike the federal agencies the nominees would be charged with leading”. “stonewalling” is a tactic often employed by members of the minority party.

“(Speaking) of the possibility of modifying the filibuster rules, which he said a simple majority of 51 Democrats are prepared to do”, Reid said: “The reality is, IF they’re [Republicans are] NOT willing to be REASONABLE, (then) WE KNOW WHERE WE’RE HEADED”. Well, this is the truth: Republicans ARE NOT “willing to be reasonable”which means, then, ANOTHER NASTY CONFRONTATION MAY BE IMMINENT because, again, of course, Republicans want to stick with the 60-vote SUPER-MAJORITY rule in order for legislation and other proposals to advance.

“Republican leader Sen. Mitch McConnell RAILED AGAINST the move on the Senate floor during a BITTER back-and-forth with Reid, saying a rules change would make Reid go down in history as “THE WORST leader of the Senate, EVERThere are THREE things to note hereFirst, “railed against” is the latest/yet another example of “Blaming and criticizing” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-AJviZ8Itk). Secondly, POLITICIANS ALWAYS SEEM TO BE “bitter” or CYNICALOn top of all this, as far as HARRY REID “going down as “the worst leader of the Senate ever”, it’s NOT as if HE (McConnell) is doing any better making this another case of “We think they made us mad; they think we made them mad and here we go” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI),  as well as/in addition to “Blaming and criticizing” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-AJviZ8Itk). “He (Reid) believes that ‘advise and consent‘ means ‘SIT DOWN and SHUT UP‘”.

“Asked if he will move to change filibuster rules IF (?) Republicans relent on those seven nominees, an UNUSUALLY PUNCHY Reid SHOT BACK: “IF they (the GOP) approve all seven, why would I do that?” “(the GOP)” almost certainly WILL NOT “approve all seven”. In fact, we have to wonder IF they will approve ANY.

“(While) RIPPING a piece of paper in ILLUSTRATION (?)”. Sen. Chuck Grassley said:  “Basically what you’re doing is DESTROYING the Constitution if we go ahead with this“. Grassley was “ripping a piece of paper in FRUSTRATION (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).

Finally, “Earlier Thursday (July 11, 2013), McConnell, pointing out that Reid objected to some changes in filibuster rules when Democrats did not hold the majority in the Senate, said such a change would be inscribed on Reid’sTOMBSTONE“.  “I just hope the majority leader thinks about HIS LEGACY, the future of his party and most importantly, the future of OUR COUNTRY before he acts”. Is MCCONNELL thinking about “the future of the country” or HIS RE-ELECTION PROSPECTS IN 2014?

Once again, the battle lines have been drawn.
