89 Killed in NE CHINA Quake: Al-Jazeera

The title of a recently released Al-Jazeera article is “Rescuers BATTLE to reach China quake victims” (Web-site/URL: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia-pacific/2013/07/20137232356448803.html).

“Rescuers with shovels and sniffer dogs comb through COLLAPSED HILLSIDES as the death toll stands at 89.

“Rescuers in China are battling through dusty rubble to reach victims of TWO shallow earthquakes that KILLED at least 89 people and FLATTENED over 5700 houses”.

“Rescuers with shovels and sniffer dogs combed through collapsed hillsides on Tuesday (July 23, 2013), as FIVE people were listed as MISSING and 628 injured following a strong earthquake in a FARMING region of NORTHWEST China”. Again isn’t it odd that earthquakes and other natural disasters always seem to affect ORDINARY people such as “farmers” and never POLITICIANS?

STATE broadcaster CCTV showed on Tuesday (July 23, 2013) images of soldiers digging through earth and sand to reach modest houses buried under landslides in the NORTHWESTERN province of Gansu”. Again “state” broadcasters only show what they WANT people to see.

Al Jazeera‘s Craig Leeson, reporting from Hong Kong, said that the earthquakes struck a “VERY REMOTE region“, making it difficult for rescuers to operate in some of the villages”. “There were EIGHT villages that were COMPLETELY DEVASTATED by this series of earthquakes“.

“Many residents in Dingxi town centre felt the main tremor despite the epicentre being some 185 kms away”. According to Xia, “the manager of the six-storey Haitian hotel”, “I was on the SECOND floor of our building, but IT FELT VERY POWERFULMany people staying on the higher floors RAN OUT OF THEIR ROOMSLOOKING RATHER STUNNED“, again, AS EXPECTED (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). WHO CAN BLAME THEM?

This is the latest in a disturbing trend of earthquakes in China, after the 2008 SICHUAN earthquake  (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Sichuan_earthquake), the 2010 YUSHU earthquake (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Yushu_earthquake) and the 2012 YUNNAN earthquake
