The title of a recently released MSNBC article is “Australian election SWEEPS CONSERVATIVE leader Tony Abbott to power” (Web-site/URL: http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/09/07/.UiyiEwfuZsE.twitter).
“Australia’s conservative leader Tony Abbott swept into office in national elections on Saturday (September 7 2013) as voters PUNISHED the outgoing Labor government for six years of TURBULENT rule and for FAILING to maximize the benefits of a now FADING mining boom“. There are FOUR things to note here. First, “punished” is often via the “force and pain technique” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). Secondly “turbulent rule” and “failing” are DAMNING CRITICISMS. On top of this Australia’s “mining” industry is “fading?” Companies such as BHP BILLUTON and RIO TINTO used to be household names.
“Abbott, a former boxer, Rhodes Scholar and trainee priest, promised to restore political stability, CUT TAXES and CRACK DOWN ON asylum seekers arriving by boat“. There are THREE things to note here. First, many POLITICIANS PROMISE “political stability”. Whether or not they can make good/deliver on that promise is entirely another matter. Secondly “cut taxes” sounds like REPUBLICANS ON CAPITOL HILL. On top of this “crack down on” is the latest/yet another example of the “force and pain technique” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“Abbott told JUBILANT supporters in Sydney”,a “From today (September 7 2013), I declare that Australia is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT and Australia is once more OPEN FOR BUSINESS“. “under new management” and “open for business” suggest that this power switch is at least in part due to FINANCES/THE ECONOMY. “It is the people of Australia to determine the government and the prime minister of this country and you will PU anyone who takes you for granted,”
“Rudd was given a rousing welcome from DEJECTED Labor party supporters in his hometown of Brisbane, conceding defeat and announcing HE WOULD STEP DOWN AS PARTY LEADER“. Again, there are TWO things to note here. First, “dejected” again carries NEGATIVE connotations. Secondly, notice “he would step down as party leader” as an indicator/sign of ACCOUNTABILITY, but which POLITICIANS are TRULY ACCOUNTABLE? Very few IF ANY.
“Supported by his wife and family”, Rudd said: “I know that Labor hearts are heavy across the nation tonight (September 7 2013). I gave it my all. But IT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO WIN“. Rudd sounds EXASPERATED here.
“Former Labor prime minister Bob Hawke (March 11, 1983 – December 20, 1991) told Sky News“, “This was an election that was LOST BY THE GOVERNMENT more than one that was won by the opposition“, which is often the case in politics.
Finally, “It was FRUSTRATION with Labor’s leadership turmoil that cost the government dearly at the polls”. This is the latest case/example of FRUSTRATION (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“Labor dumped Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in 2010, for Australia’s first female prime minister Julia Gillard, only to reinstate Rudd as leader in June, 2013 in a DESPERATE bid to stay in power“. Conservatives took advantage of this “desperation” because “desperation” could be regarded as INDECISIVENESS/INEPTITUDE, which implies that the Australian Labor Party COULDN’T GET THE JOB DONE.a
So, the Labor Party got KICKED OUT.
