The title of a recently released Reuters article is “Cruz brings TEA PARTY fight on Obamacare to (the) U.S. Senate” (Web-site/URL: http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/24/us-usa-fiscal-idUSBRE98N11220130924).
“U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, a renegade TEA PARTY favorite, took his fight to defund President Barack Obama’s healthcare overhaul to the Senate floor on Tuesday (September 24 2013), but most of his Republican colleagues REFUSED to join him” AS EXPECTED (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“In fact, A MAJORITY OF the 46 Republicans in the Senate may end up lining up instead with their party leaders, who want to pass an emergency spending bill by September 30 (2013) that would avoid a federal government shutdown and would undercut Cruz’s high-stakes effort to stop Obamacare”. September 30 2013 is just around the corner now so again we have to wonder: WILL THIS HAPPEN?
“Standing in a NEARLY EMPTY Senate, Cruz began an ATTENTION-GRABBING (?) speech in the early afternoon Tuesday (September 24, 2013) that could stretch into Wednesday (September 25, 2013) in favor of withholding funds to operate the government unless Obamacare is gutted”. Well, the fact that the Senate was “nearly empty” strongly suggests that Cruz’s ANTICS WERE NOT “attention-grabbing”. OK, let’s say that it was “attention-grabbing” but only in the sense that it made Cruz LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT.
“He went on to talk about his father “flippin’ pancakes“, making “green eggs and ham,” “THE TRAVESTY OF Obamacare”, and, proudly, about his UNPOPULARITY among many fellow Republicans”. “unpopularity” because of CRAZY ANTICS IS NOT something to be proud of. Also what does Cruz’s father “flippin’ pancakes” have to do with this?
“Practically every day, he said in his marathon speech, “I now pick up the newspaper to learn what a SCOUNDREL I am“. That’s NOT a compliment.
“It had the look and sound of an old-fashioned “FILIBUSTER (?)” used traditionally by senators to block legislation, except that in this case, it won’t”. This is “filibustering” by ONE person.
“Senator Orrin Hatch, the senior Republican on the Senate Finance Committee that oversees Obamacare, announced he would side with MCCONNELL rather than Cruz” even though MCCONNELL IS ALSO EXTREME. Hatch paid a tribute to TED KENNEDY at Kennedy’s funeral back on August 28, 2009, but has since become SIGNIFICANTLY more CONSERVATIVE.
“Senator Lindsey Graham said he EXPECTS a majority of the Senate’s 46 Republicans will REJECT Cruz’s high-stakes maneuver that has been embraced by the Republican-led House of Representatives”. So, once again, it’s a case of HOUSE vs SENATE GOP. Also, for once, we have a REASONABLE EXPECTATION from a POLITICIAN (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“Graham told Reuters in a brief hallway interview on Capitol Hill”, “I think most Republicans believe, no matter how sincere you are about defunding Obamacare, that this approach would BLOW UP IN OUR FACES“. This is something that Ted Cruz STILL REFUSES TO ADMIT.
According to Sen. John McCain, “We will end up NOT shutting the government down and we will NOT defund Obamacare. That’s how THE MOVIE ends“. This is a SAD “movie” for the GOP then. Sen. McCain also spoke at TED KENNEDY‘s funeral but has become SIGNIFICANTLY more CONSERVATIVE since then.
Finally, “House Republican leaders have not informed rank-and-file members what the final stage of the fight over the spending bill will look like, according to an aide to one junior Republican”. “First and foremost, he DOESN’T (?) want the government to shut down“. REALLY? “He is definitely STRESSED (?)” A JUNIOR Republican Member Of Congress is “stressed?” What about SENIOR Members Of Congress who have to BABYSIT the junior members? This is the latest chapter of
To conclude, again, Ted Cruz is a member of THE TEA PARTY and as we know, the Tea Party’s IDEOLOGY is EXTREME. That’s why even many REPUBLICANS AREN’T listening to Cruz going on and on and on like the Energizer Bunny now. Cruz is the latest politician who’s starting to sound like A BROKEN RECORD.
