DEMOCRATS STILL “Divided” Over HEALTHCARE REFORM: Fox

The title of a recently released Fox News article is “Dems divided over insurance plan fix despite Obama assurances” (Web-site/URL: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/11/15/dems-divided-over-insurance-plan-fix-despite-obama-assurances/).

“President Obama’s bid to use an administrative fix to reverse millions of insurance cancellation notices has failed to stop PANICKED Democrats from pursuing legislation that would go even further”. “Democrats” are “panicked” ahead of THE 2014 MID-TERM ELECTIONS

“The President’s announcement on Thursday (November 14, 2013) was aimed in part at easing the concerns of HOUSE Democrats, whose constituents are complaining LOUDLY about losing their current coverage due to ObamaCare”“complaining” sounds like the GOP while “complaining loudly” sounds like THE TEA PARTYbecause let’s be honest, this is what the Tea Party does: “complain loudly”. “Democrats had been LOOKING FOR COVER ahead of Friday’s vote (November 15, 2013) on a Republican bill to let insurers sell previously canceled plans for another year” until NOVEMBER 152014

“But that vote Friday afternoon (November 152013) exposed SUSTAINED divisions among the Democratic ranks. DESPITE Obama’s assurances, a total of 39 Democrats defected and supported the GOP bill”. “Despite Obama’s assurances” sounds like the 2010 Democratic “shellacking” all over again when DEMOCRATS lost 63 HOUSE seats (Web-site/URL: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Elections/Vox-News/2010/1104/Obama-calls-midterm-elections-a-shellacking-for-Democrats) and “sustained divisions” IS NOT good.

“The House bill would go a step further than Obama’s plan by allowing insurance companies to sell the old plans to customers who previously had them, as well as new customers, for another year” until NOVEMBER 15, 2014

“The White House has already threatened to veto the legislation and THERE’S CERTAINLY NO GUARANTEE that Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid would call it to the floor” obviously/AS EXPECTED (Web-site/URL:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).

“But Democrats are separately pursuing two additional pieces of legislation on the Senate side that — IF they can convince Reid to consider them — could prove problematic for the president”. This is the latest IF and “prove problematic for the president” also seems like “Blue Dog” Democrats are returning and also reminds us of BLANCHE LINCOLN’s “I don’t even know what the bill is gonna be” ANTICS (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMFIQ7ERdPI).

“Both those bills go further than even the House bill”.

“One, from Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., would allow the old policies to be extended for another TWO years” until NOVEMBER 152015Udall was first elected to the Senate in 2008so he IS up for re-election in 2014 (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Udall).

“The other, from Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., would effectively allow an INDEFINITE extension of those plans by grandfathering in all plans as late as Dec. 31, 2013″Landrieu was last re-elected in 2008so she IS ALSO up for re-election in 2014 (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Landrieu).

“Landrieu, while praising Obama for his announcement on Thursday (November 142013), gave no indication she would let up on her own bill. She said in a statement she would be working in the weeks ahead to “support legislation” to KEEP THE PROMISE that people can keep their health plans if they want”. Do POLITICIANS “keep promises?” OBAMA‘s pledge that “If you like your plan you can keep your plan” has already been broken (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfl55GgHr5E).

“Both bills were continuing to attract Democratic supporters AFTER Obama’s announcement”. Again, this sounds like 2010 with people moving AWAY from Obama

“Sen. Mark Begich, D-Alaska, said after Obama’s proposal that he would be supporting the UDALL bill”. Begich was first elected in 2008, so he IS ALSO up for re-election in 2014 (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Begich).  We also have to wonder how much influence SARAH PALIN has here because Palin clearly still has A LOT of influence even though her official public career has long ended

“Landrieu also announced the support of Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., for her bill. Donnelly joins fellow Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein of California and Jeff Merkley of Oregon in backing the LANDRIEU bill”. DONNELLY was only elected in 2012 so he WON’T be up for re-election until 2018 (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Donnelly), FEINSTEIN was most recently re-elected in 2012, so she also WON’T be up for re-election until 2018 (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dianne_Feinstein#Electoral_historyand Merkley was also first elected in 2008so he WILL ALSO be up for re-election in 2014 (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Merkley).

Landrieu  went on: “As the momentum builds to KEEP THE PROMISE (?) made to the American people, I will continue to push for a targeted solution because the Affordable Care Act (ACA) IS worth fighting for“. So Landrieu IS on the President’s side.

“White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, though, said Friday (November 15, 2013) that the administration disagrees “with the assertion that this is not something that [can] be dealt with“.

Finally “A number of top Democratic leaders were standing by the president. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi called the House GOP bill a “Trojan horseor a VIRUS.  “If we have to THREAD A NEEDLE, let’s do that, but let’s NOT unravel the entire sweater“, which is precisely what the GOP is trying to do

To conclude, again, “Democrats (are) divided”, but the GOP is united in NEGATIVITY.
