The title of a recently released Bloomberg article is “China Air Zone Move EXPANDS Field of Islands SPAT With Japan” (Web-site/URL: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-23/china-declares-air-defense-zone-in-east-china-sea-on-islands-row.html).
“China declared intent to protect an air zone encompassing islands that are disputed with Japan escalated tensions between Asia’s largest economies, risking damage to a resurgence in trade”. China and Japan are the world’s SECOND and THIRD largest economies (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)).
“China protested to both Japan and the U.S. about their reaction to the new air defense zone” AS EXPECTED (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). China always “protests” when they DON’T get their way. .
“The Foreign Affairs Office of the Chinese Defense Ministry complained to the U.S. Embassy’s military attache yesterday (November 23 2013) over the U.S. “erroneous remarks” on the zone, according to a statement on the Ministry’s website today (November 24, 2013)”.
“In a statement late yesterday (November 23, 2013)”, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said: “China has engaged in “profoundly DANGEROUS acts that UNILATERALLY CHANGE THE STATUS QUO”. China ALWAYS does things “unilaterally” WITHOUT considering what anyone else thinks.
“A map and details of the zone’s coordinates were posted on the Chinese Defense Ministry’s website”. “in a separate statement also on the site”, Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yajun said: “This is a NECESSARY measure taken by China in exercising its SELF-DEFENSE right. It is NOT directed against any specific country or target”. REALLY? Again China is DEFENSIVE (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
Finally “The level of U.S. response to China will be key, and whether it supports Japan by actions such as flying planes into the zone alongside aircraft from Tokyo according to June Teufel Dreyer, a political science professor at the University of Miami in Florida”. “It’s time for WASHINGTON to make the next move. But will it? If not, the pivot to Asia will have been proven what many have thought all along: A SHAM”.
This is the latest “spat” between CHINA and with CHINA clearly coming out on top/emerging as THE AGGRESSOR
