The title of a recently released CBS News article is “West Virginia WATER woes continue as tests reveal more contamination” (Web-site/URL: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/west-virginia-water-woes-continue-as-new-tests-reveal-more-contamination/).
“The company responsible for last week’s chemical spill just outside Charleston, W.Va., filed for bankruptcy on Friday (January 17 2014)”.
“Freedom Industries is facing at least 31 lawsuits because of the accident, which left hundreds of thousands without drinking water”.
“Residents of Putnam County, W. Va., who thought their water troubles were over got some unwelcome news Friday morning (January 17,2014) : an order by the water company instructing them to AVOID DRINKING and to LIMIT CONTACT WITH the water. Testing revealed higher levels of the leaked chemical than had been determined safe”.
According to one resident, “I took a shower after they told me it was a GREEN light. That’s what made me MAD“. “mad” people is something we DON’T need any more of.
“Wednesday (January 15, 2014), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta warned pregnant women to AVOID drinking the water“.
According to Dr. Vikas Kapil, “We generally advise that if chemical exposures can be AVOIDED during pregnancy that women should try to do that, particularly when we know little about the chemical as we do in this case“ obviously.
Finally, “Jeni Burns is a Charleston business owner”. ”I’m NOT COOKING WITH this water, I’m not DRINKING this water. As a matter of fact, in here, I’ve WASHED THE DISHES with BOTTLED water (and) RINSED THEM OFF with BOTTLED water“.To conclude, let’s return once again to the title: “West Virginia WATER woes continue as tests reveal more contamination“. As we know water is a NECESSITY that we CAN’T live without. It also puts PUTNAM COUNTY WEST VIRGINIA (Population: 51589) on the map. This is the SECOND article about a water emergency with the first being “Governor declares DROUGHT emergency in California” (Web-site/URL: http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/1/17/calif-governor-declaresdroughtemergency.html). So, in CALIFORNIA there’s a LACK OF water while in WEST VIRGINIA the water is POLLUTED. Neither of these scenarios is desirable.
