The title of a recently released Reuters article is “Hong Kong recalls Tiananmen killings, China muffles dissent” (Web-site/URL: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/06/04/us-china-tiananmen-idUSKBN0EF0DV20140604).
“Tens of thousands of people held a candlelight vigil in Hong Kong on Wednesday (June 4, 2014) to mark the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protesters 25 years ago in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, while mainland China authorities sought to WHITEWASH the 1989 event” by FORCE (Web-site/URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“In Beijing, police flooded the streets around the square, scene of the worst of the violence a quarter of a century ago and censors SCRUBBED the Internet CLEAN of any mention of the RARE OPEN display of DEFIANCE against the Communist Party”, AS EXPECTED (Web-site/URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“In Hong Kong (on the other hand), which returned to Chinese rule in 1997, but remains a free-wheeling, capitalist hub, demonstrators holding candles and clad mainly in black gathered in a downtown park (Victoria Park) and called on Beijing to ATONE FOR the killings” which, of course, will NEVER happen. We are also concerned that Hong Kong is NOT as “free-wheeling” as it should be, with former Chief Executive DONALD TSANG taking the territory closer to Chinese rule (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Tsang) and current Chief Executive LEUNG CHUN-YING who is a supposed China loyalist/underground Communist (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_term_of_CY_Leung_as_Chief_Executive_of_Hong_Kong).
According to.Chen Jing Gen, “in his 60s, who traveled from the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen to attend the vigil”, “Hong Kong is a FREE society where you CAN SPEAK OUT. In China, the Communist Party DICTATES EVERYTHING. People in mainland China are mostly aware of (what happened on/the events of) June 4 (1989), but due to the CONTROL of the Party, NO ONE DARES to talk about it“. As we know, the Communist Party is a form of “dictatorship” which is OBSESSED WITH “control”. If anyone “dares to talk about” the events of June 4 1989 they will either be sent to thought reform doing hard labor in the countryside or EXECUTED/KILLED.
“The United States led international calls for China to account for what happened on June 4, 1989. The comments riled China, which has said the protest movement was “COUNTER-revolutionary“. There are TWO things to note here. First there is NO “accountability” in CHINA; only ORDINARY CITIZENS have to be “accountable” to THE GOVERNMENT. On top of this the question is not what “riles China”; it is what DOESN’T “rile China” because EVERYTHING the international community does seems to be “counter-revolutionary”. This is the FARCE of the Communist government: POST-revolutionary is often WORSE or at best NO BETTER than PRE-revolutionary society.
According to a 25-year-old woman surnamed Lan, “who was visiting Hong Kong from Beijing”, “I HAD NEVER (even) HEARD OF the Tiananmen incident until I was studying in the United States when I was 18″. This person was born in 1988 or 1989, the MOST SENSITIVE period for the current generation of young Chinese. So the Chinese government has even started brainwashing people BORN during the year of this horrific crackdown.
“Veteran activist Hu Jia told Reuters from his home in Beijing, where he said police were present to prevent him from leaving,…speaking by mobile phone”, “They (Communist government officials) have COVERED UP history. They DON’T want people to know the truth of what they did” obviously. “Nobody would have confidence in them if they knew what they did… They should have FALLEN because of what they did“. BINGO.
“Many Chinese would balk at the idea of mass revolution today. China is now the world’s SECOND biggest economy, with most Chinese enjoying individual and economic freedoms never accorded them before”. “individual freedoms” are still SORELY LACKING.
According to a Beijing resident who gave his family name as Xu”, “I DON’T think it (an event similar to June 4, 1989) can happen again. China’s system is certainly DIFFERENT from the West. The population is HUGE, 1.4 billion people. If you want to govern it WELL, it’s NOT easy“. This is the OLD attitude which reminds us, (somewhat), of GIGI IBRAHIM’S AUNT (Web-site/URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzwU9J9kyko).
“But Wu’er Kaixi, a leading figure in the pro-democracy movement of 1989, told Reuters that Chinese people could rise up once more against the Communist Party in ANGER at anything from graft to the country’s badly polluted air, water and soil”. As we know “anger” is a VOLATILE/DANGEROUS emotion.
“Before the anniversary from Taiwan, where he works at an investment firm”, Wu’er Kaixi said: “Yes, you gave us economic freedom, but you are jumping in and LOOTING us, ROBBING US OF OUR FUTURE, CORRUPTING OUR CULTURE, our VALUES and THE ENVIRONMENT. All this has been clearly and widely expressed by Chinese people in the last two decades. This discontent will emerge into one thing one day: A REVOLUTION. I am sure the Communist Party is very well aware of this“. Wu’er Kaixi is certainly OUTSPOKEN. GIGI IBRAHIM (gsquare86) would be proud of him.
“Pro-Beijing group the Voice of Loving Hong Kong taunted vigil-goers at the entrance to Victoria Park, where more than 30 uniformed police monitored proceedings”. So people who “love Hong Kong” must also “love” CHINA. Again this is A FARCE/RIDICULOUS.
According to chairman of the group Patrick Ko, “Let the past pass … it’s already 25 years. If we continue (down this path), ALL Chinese are losers“.
“Hung Lap, wearing a yellow headband, charged at the group with a large banner that said: “OVERTHROW the Communist Party, the Chinese Communist Party is AN EVIL CULT“. THIS IS TRUE. Communist Party officials get their way/whatever they want MOST of the time.
“Amid pushing and shoving, Hung shouted into a loud-hailer: “Go DIE … GET OUT of Hong Kong”.
Finally, “In DEMOCRATIC (?) Taiwan, which China claims as its own, President Ma Ying-jeou said China should ensure that a “TRAGEDY” like June 4 (1989) never happens again”. “IF Chinese authorities CAN tolerate differences, not only can that raise the height and the legitimacy of those in power, but also SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE (?) to Taiwan that political reform in China is SERIOUS“. IS IT? Now, Ma is supposedly PRO-CHINA (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma_Ying-jeou),,so he must TREAD VERY CAREFULLY on this issue of June 4, 1989.
We can make TWO conclusions here. First, “On both sides of Hong Kong’s iconic harbor, scuffles broke out between rival political factions in the worst confrontations so far at a June 4 event, highlighting rising tensions between the city and mainland China”. Older people may argue that the Chinese government was JUSTIFIED in cracking down on dissenters/protesters/demonstrators. However the number of people belonging to this ULTRA-conservative faction seems to be DECREASING…just like the proportion of people who argue that women should SIT AT HOME & DO NOTHING EXCEPT WAIT FOR PREGNANCY ONCE THEY MARRY OR ENTER INTO LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS. The second conclusion is: “China muffles dissent”, AS EXPECTED (Web-site/URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). They still pretty much REFUSE to listen to people who disagree with them. This is yet another indication that China is NOT modernizing.
