FINALLY “the government’s web-site is working”. “BUT IT WAS TOO SOON TO TELL the rollout has turned the corner”.
“More than 1 million people have enrolled since Oct. 1 (2013), Obama said at his end-of-the-year press conference”.
“(Speaking) of getting coverage for uninsured people”, Obama said: “That (GETTING UNINSURED PEOPLE COVERED) is a BIG deal” obviously, but again, so far (WE’RE STILL SAYING THIS), this is STILL just LIP SERVICE. “That’s why I ran for this office“.
According to Mark McClellan, “who oversaw the problematic rollout of the Medicare prescription drug benefit for President George W. Bush (and) is now a health policy expert with the NON-PARTISAN (?) Brookings Institution, a Washington think-tank”, “Implementing the website is the RELATIVELY easy part. Implementing the coverage itself involves A LOT more things that COULD go wrong and THERE’S A LOT AT STAKE” obviously. “It was possible for people to wait a month or two to use the website. People who need care on Jan. 1 (2014) ARE NOT going to be able to wait a month or two to get it.
Finally, “In Florida on Friday (December 20 2013), Lisa Hulsey wasn’t feeling very confident. She had waited nearly AN HOUR to sign up for health insurance with a counselor because the website was down. The couple before Hulsey zipped through in less than an hour and chose a midrange silver plan”.
“Hulsey, a paralegal, had employer insurance at no cost to her. But her company is no longer offering coverage, instead pushing employees into the federal marketplace where they may qualify for subsidies”. “”I’m hungry. I’m FRUSTRATED. To conclude, OK, 1 million have signed up for healthcare reform, but MANY MORE REMAIN UNINSURED, with some even BEING AWARE OF ALL THEIR OPTIONS or BEING UNABLE TO USE THE HEALTHCARE REFORM WEB-SITE. So, THERE IS STILL A LOT MORE WORK TO BE DONE.
